BY LWANDILE MASEKO – NAMBOARD MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Eswatini’s farmers have responded positively to the national call to increase local production, steadily expanding output and supplying quality produce to the local market. This growth reflects a shared commitment to food security, import substitution, and sustainable agricultural development.

As NAMBoard, we play a pivotal role as market facilitators and farmer developers within the horticulture sector. Through structured market access, farmer support, and coordinated supply systems, we work closely with producers to strengthen the value chain — from farm to market. Our mandate is to ensure that locally produced produce find reliable markets while farmers receive fair opportunities to grow and scale their produce.

We therefore encourage local retailers, fresh produce markets, wholesalers, and traders to support this drive by prioritising the purchase of locally produced agricultural products. Supporting local production keeps cashflow within the country, strengthens farmer livelihoods, and builds a resilient national economy.

Fresh, vegetables produced by Emaswati farmers are available at all NAMBoard packhouses at affordable prices, with consistent supply to meet both retail and bulk demand.
