From livestock disease control and commercial crop production to youth empowerment, food processing and farmer capacity building, another busy week awaits Eswatini’s agricultural sector. Here is your guide to the key events shaping agriculture across the country.

NATIONAL FMD MASS VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

Dates: Monday, 13 July – Thursday, 16 July 2026

The Ministry of Agriculture continues its nationwide Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) mass vaccination campaign, with veterinary teams deployed across the country as efforts intensify to protect the national cattle herd. Livestock owners are urged to present their cattle at designated dip tanks from 6:00 AM according to the official schedule.

COMMERCIAL VEGETABLE PRODUCTION TRAINING (TAVI II)

Dates: 14–15 July 2026

Venue: Mphophoma, Malkerns Research Station

The Taiwan–Africa Vegetable Initiative (TAVI II), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Vegetable Center, will host a specialised training programme focusing on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), crop establishment, irrigation, pest and disease management, post-harvest handling, record keeping and vegetable marketing. The training targets champion farmers, extension officers and horticulture specialists.

COMMERCIAL SEED PRODUCTION TRAINING

Dates: 16–17 July 2026

Venue: Mphophoma, Malkerns Research Station

The second phase of the TAVI II programme focuses on commercial seed production, Quality Declared Seed (QDS) systems, seed quality management, processing, packaging, storage and the development of a sustainable local seed production network.

DAIRY PROCESSING TRAINING FOR FARMERS

Dates: Throughout the Week

Venue: Eswatini Dairy Board, Manzini

The Eswatini National Agricultural Union (ESNAU), in collaboration with the Eswatini Dairy Board, continues practical dairy processing training targeting women, dairy producers, livestock farmers and farmer groups. Supported by the European Union and the International Trade Centre (ITC), the programme promotes value addition and entrepreneurship within Eswatini’s dairy industry.

STARKE AYRES FARMERS’ FIELD DAY

Date: Tuesday, 14 July 2026

Time: 09:00 AM – 02:00 PM

Venue: Lavumisa, Eswatini

Leading vegetable seed company Starke Ayres will host a practical Farmers’ Field Day showcasing improved vegetable varieties and production technologies. Demonstrations will feature cabbage, butternuts, hot peppers, tomatoes and sweet peppers, giving farmers the opportunity to compare varieties, learn best production practices and interact directly with seed specialists.

TAVs FOOD DISPLAY & HEALTH TALK

Mangcongco Inkhundla

Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2026

Time: 10:00 AM

Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture’s Home Economics Section, the programme promotes healthy eating through Traditional African Vegetables (TAVs), combining practical food demonstrations with nutrition education.

Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2026

Time: 10:00 AM

A second nutrition outreach programme promoting indigenous vegetables, healthy diets and household food security through practical food preparation demonstrations.

COMMUNITY DIALOGUE ON GENDER & BIODIVERSITY

Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2026

Venue: Ngwempisi

PELUM Eswatini, in partnership with the Eswatini National Trust Commission (ENTC), will host a community dialogue exploring the links between biodiversity conservation, gender inclusion and sustainable agricultural development.

FREE BROILER PRODUCTION TRAINING

Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2026

Time: 09:00 AM – 02:00 PM

Venue: Nhlangano Farmers Training Centre

Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund (YERF) and Elangeni Chicks, this free workshop will equip aspiring poultry farmers with practical broiler production and management skills.

TWO-DAY BROILER PRODUCTION WORKSHOP

Dates: 16–17 July 2026

Time: 09:00 AM – 02:00 PM

Venue: Mbabane Library

Poultry farmers in the Hhohho Region can attend this free technical workshop covering broiler housing, disease prevention, feeding programmes, flock management and commercial poultry production. The programme is supported by the Eswatini Agriculture Development Fund (EADF) and Farm Services.

YOUTH CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP

Date: Friday, 17 July 2026

Venue: Ngwempisi

The Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC), in collaboration with the Ngwempisi Inkhundla Council and Youth Committees, will host a capacity-building workshop focusing on entrepreneurship, business plan development, mindset change and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness to empower young people.
