The Ministry of Agriculture is actively promoting the Eswatini Agriculture Information Systems (EAIS) at the Eswatini International Trade Fair, aiming to transform the agricultural landscape in the Kingdom of Eswatini through digitalization. Agribusiness News interviewed Sifiso Dlamini, Marketing Officer for the Ministry of Agriculture, who encouraged farmers to leverage this innovative platform to list their produce, allowing them to connect directly with customers searching for agricultural products.
The Agricultural Integrated Information System (AIIS) is a comprehensive and integrated agriculture information and database system that drives nationwide development in Eswatini. Managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, this platform registers all actors within the agricultural value chain, providing a foundation to launch capacity-building initiatives and implement regulatory measures. These efforts are designed to enhance performance, coordination, production, and marketing activities across the sector.
The AIIS envisions becoming a “one-stop” house for the timely and effective collection and dissemination of all agricultural information and data in the Kingdom of Eswatini. The system not only serves as a hub for modernizing agricultural production but also incorporates a multivendor e-commerce model and a comprehensive service provision framework, ensuring its position as a key driver for future agricultural innovation in the country.
